Emily's 1st Owie

Emily bonked her head this morning. Her 1st toddler owie. I'm surprised she has lasted this long. A bruise immediately formed and I was scared it was going to turn into this:

But it didn't...but it did remind me of when Elliott really bonked his head. I panicked back then and took him to the doctor.

Emily likes to sneak into the kitchen area...and well...Elliott knows I don't like her in there on the floor. So he was trying to be a good boy and put her back in the living room. But he tripped....and Emily's head smacked the floor pretty hard. Elliott felt AWFUL! He started crying and was just so upset. So we did show him the picture of his owie when he was 18 months old.

Emily wasn't too happy about the event and was pretty sure the world had ended.

Of course these pictures seem like nothing...but she has a big bruise on her forehead...but it didn't pop out like Elliott's did way back when.

I kind of love this picture...sweet silly girl!

Emily 1 Year Well Check

Emily had her 1 year doctor's appointment this morning. 4 yucky shots and blood drawn from a finger prick. Poor little girl...she's a champ!

Stats:

Weight: 19 lbs 12.8 oz (50%)

Height: 28.75" (35%)

Head: 17.91" (64%)

So she is back on track with her weight! Yay!! Everything else is looking great with her.

Tomorrow she is going off bottles. I'll packing them up, and I got out the rest of the sippy cups. She's been getting some practice in on the sippy cups...and she's ready for them. So excited to get rid of the bottles!

I need to think of some ideas of food for her to eat...because I want her completely off of baby food. Time to go to the grocery store!

Happy 1st Birthday Emily!

Emily is 1 year old today!!

She has brought so much joy to our lives and we are so so happy to have her in our family.

She is so sweet and loving. If she has been away from me, she'll come crawl to me and hug on my legs. She is sensitive if someone raises their voice around her. And she is goofy and silly. I love this sweet little girl of mine.

Emily loves to clap and give five.

The only thing she LOVES to watch on tv is a sing a long song program I have on the computer.

She loves to snuggle (Mommy loves this way more!)

She loves to play with the laptop or computer or Ipad or phone or whatever electronic device you are on. Her bashfulness all of a sudden will disappear if you have one of these in hand.

She also loves to climb over anyone laying down.

Emily absolutely loves her older brother Elliott!! And of course her Mommy and Daddy too!

Happy Birthday sweet little girl.

I made her a doll cake. It was an experience...I'll leave it at that. Next time, hopefully, I'll do a better job. But the cake tasted yummy. Joel had 4 slices! It was quite the complement.

We were excited to hang out with the Kiblers. I'm so sad that they don't live here...really wish Emily & Clara could be buddies.

We were surprised by an unexpected visit from Uncle Joel. He was tickled by Emily's bashfulness.

So sweet.

Emily loves her toys. Elliott was so excited that we let him open her presents. 

And I have a gazillion eating cake pictures. Her expressions were just so cute.

She got so shy when we all sang happy birthday to her.

This is her first go at her cupcake. I made her a large cupcake. I put a pinch in her mouth so she knew what it was.

She wasn't bashful with her cupcake. She was neater and cleaner than I expected her to be. But she did eat ALL her cupcake.

Play Kitchen

I brought the play kitchen downstairs and out of Elliott's room. Emily is at the age now where I think she'd enjoy it. It was cute to see the two kids playing together.

Emily 52 Weeks!

It's here!

I can't believe my baby is 52 weeks!!

Seriously!

I can't believe that tomorrow is her birthday too!!

She is no longer my little baby anymore. Well...she'll always be my baby of course.

I am so in love with this little girl!!!

This is our last weekly posting of pics! I'm surprised that I've stuck with it. Now I need to get it printed for her baby book.

Not much more to report since last week though.

She still has 2 teeth.

She is still a fast crawler. She's always on the go!

She crawled all the way up the stairs on Monday morning...with me right behind her of course.

She loves fruit! Especially grapes and bananas. She eats an entire banana every morning...of course I cut it up. She loves freeze dried yogurt. I was paying the expensive baby kind at the store. Then I popped open my thrive yogurt...she loves it....and it's not so expensive.

She is starting to use a sippy cup and is getting more and more use to it. I'm hoping to get rid of bottles in the next couple of weeks!

I'm going to be working on her birthday cake this morning....I really hope it turns out okay.

Since Emily is sooo mobile. I was worried that I wouldn't get any good pictures for her last weekly picture. So I took 99 pictures! I have a lot of cute ones. Too many actually.

I've tried to get a corner of the couch pose each week....I've gotten one most weeks.

She's coming after my camera.

 I love these 2 kiddos so much! I feel so grateful that I have such good kids...they really are just so sweet. And I love that Elliott loves his little sister. He was very insistent today to get lots of pics with her this morning. He's such a good boy.

Love My Husband!!

It's not our anniversary or anything...but I just have to say I have such an awesome husband!! I feel very grateful that I have him for a husband.

Sometimes I wish he was more ambitious and put himself out there more with his career and seek more promotion potential. He gets home at 4 pm everyday (unless he's working OT). And then I realized how lucky I am that he WANTS to be home with his family. I'd much rather have that than a workaholic.

The kids and I are going to my parents for a few weeks. I found some great deals on flights. When I made them, I didn't realize that we were going to be gone for Labor Day. Darn it. That's a holiday Patrick will have off. I mentioned it to Patrick...and I was going to ask him what guy stuff he is going to do having a long weekend to himself. But instead, he said he'll take a 4 day weekend and drive up to Arkansas to be with us!! I was shocked!! My sweet husband just wants to be with his family....I am so so grateful to him. It meant so much to me that he'd sacrifice 20 hours of his weekend to just be with his family. And I love that he loves to hang out with my parents too! I love him so much!!!
