Baby Gifts for Everett!!

We were so happy to have Brock/Katy and Mom/Dad come to see us. It was only for a day and a half....but we were so happy they took the time to come see us!!!

And Katy & Brock gave us some baby gifts!!! I wasn't expecting it at all....and was quite surprised and so excited!! Katy was also excited because this will be the first baby born in our family with her already officially being the aunt!! Like Patrick, when she married into the family she inherited all this family and more than quadrupled hers. I'm hoping Everett can still squeeze into the "I love my Auntie" onesie at the reunion in July so she can get a picture with him!!

Then my mom had to give what she made for Everett too!! The duck quilt won a 1st place blue ribbon at her quilt show in Arkansas!! So cute! And she made another receiving blanket!! I love the ones she makes for us. She did ask if I needed more...and unfortunately I don't. I still have the one she made for Elliott.

Several months ago, Miriam gave me money to put towards a diaper bag as her baby gift. And this is what I picked out. Love it!!

36 Weeks

In the home stretch!! I'm 36 weeks today. And I had my last ultrasound! It was a lot of fun...but it always is when you get to see your baby. I haven't had that many ultrasounds this time. 8 weeks, 20 weeks, and 36 weeks. But I did get 2 different ones at 20 weeks. Mom and Katy showed up a few minutes before my appointment...so I was able to drag them along. Katy has never seen an ultrasound...so I was glad she could come. 

This pic was my favorite!! His eyes are covered but you can see his nose and mouth. During the ultrasound you could see him sucking...I just loved it...and it almost brought me to tears being able to see my little guy!!

Just a leg...ankle to knee.

The doctor got a kick out of this image so she had to get it printed out. That is a fist but the testicles....and she said, "See...they are born with it!!" Ha ha ha!!!

And here is a pic of me at 36 weeks. Maybe I'll take 1 more right before delivery.

SNOW!!!

Our weather has been kind of crazy....and just plain drunk lately. 85 degrees on Christmas. Tornadoes throughout DFW the day after. And this morning we woke up to snow. I knew there was going to be snow to the west of us...I really didn't think we'd get it. BUT...when we woke up there was snow on the ground! I was just going to stay in bed....but Patrick asked me if I would get a picture of the kids...so I guilted myself to get up. At first, Emily didn't want anything to do with the snow...she wouldn't even walk in it. But she got used to it...and at one point they were even throwing a little bit at each other. They had a lot of fun!!

This year, I've been thinking about Mary. Probably has to do with me being so pregnant. I often wonder how she felt after she had baby Jesus. Was she super protective and just wanted to snuggle him constantly. Was she more than happy letting all the visitors hold him? How intimidated did she feel knowing she was responsible and the mother of this chosen Christ child! I often wonder what life was like for her and Joseph hours after the birth of Jesus. I bet it was one of the most spiritual moments in her life. 

Christmas 2015

We had such a nice Christmas this year! I hope my kids enjoyed themselves and remember this one and all the fun we had!

We baked and decorated cookies...they had so much fun!!

And here they are...right before bed time!

And Santa has come!!! Santa treats our home a little bit differently than most homes. He brings one gift and a stocking full of treats. The parents are responsible and gets all the credit for the rest of the presents!!!

And look...he even left footprints on his way to his cookies!

We got a new Christmas tree this year...and we pretty much LOVE it. It has a rotating tree stand...it's pretty fun.

Elliott was quite the pro and anxious to open his gifts. Emily had a slow start...but she got the hang of it eventually and had a lot of fun. It always seem they have the most fun unloading their stockings!

This little girls seemed pretty excited for her minnie socks.

Nails, Quilt, and an Ouchie

We did our nails for Christmas!! I even did Emily toes which she begged and begged for. Little girls' nails are just the cutest.

I finally finished my irish chain quilt!! All from scraps. I've been cutting and collecting for the past year...and I finally got it all put together. I really like how it all turned out!

And I was in a rush...and trying to finish a quilt block...and I accidentally barely glided the rotary cutter over my hand....and this is what happened!! Ouch!!
